HSE

No structure is worth an injury to build it. That is the whole policy. Everything below is how we keep it true—on every site, for every person, on work registered in Nigeria, and wherever the job takes us.

Who This Covers

This policy applies to all I-krets directors, employees, and operatives, as well as to the subcontractors, suppliers, and visitors present on our sites. Everyone on our work is entitled to go home in the same condition they arrived. Everyone on our work shares the duty to keep it that way.

Health and Safety

We manage safety as part of the job, not as paperwork bolted on afterward.

• We assess before we start: Every task carrying real risk is risk-assessed, with a method statement that says how it will be done safely. If conditions change, the assessment changes with them.

• We plan the dangerous work: Working at height, lifting operations, hot works and welding, temporary works, electrical work, and confined spaces are planned, controlled, and supervised by competent people—not improvised.

• We equip and train: Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and worn. Toolbox talks and task briefings keep the crew current on what they're doing and what could hurt them.

• We maintain plant: Equipment, tools, and lifting gear are inspected and kept in safe working order. Faulty kit is taken out of use, not worked around.

• We hold stop-work authority: Anyone on site—at any level—can and must stop a task they believe is unsafe. No one is ever penalised for it.

• We learn from incidents: Injuries, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences are reported and investigated so the root cause is removed, not repeated.

Environment

Construction disturbs its surroundings. Our job is to keep that disturbance controlled and temporary.

• Waste and materials: We segregate and dispose of construction waste responsibly and avoid needless over-ordering.

• Chemicals and spills: Resins, epoxies, curing agents, fuels, and solvents are stored, handled, and disposed of properly, with spill controls where they're used.

• Dust, noise, and water: We take reasonable measures to limit dust, noise, and run-off affecting neighbours and watercourses.

• Responsible sourcing: We favour materials and methods that reduce avoidable environmental cost without compromising the durability the structure needs.

Compliance and Responsibility

• Legal framework: We work within the applicable Nigerian health, safety, labour, and environmental laws—including the framework set by the Factories Act, the Labour Act, the Employee Compensation Act, and NESREA's environmental regulations—and within the equivalent legal requirements of any other jurisdiction we operate in.

• Shared duty: Management provides the resources, planning, and supervision to make safe work possible. Every worker is responsible for following safe systems of work and looking out for those around them. We hold our subcontractors to the same standard we hold ourselves.

• Continuous improvement: Our HSE approach follows the principles of a recognised safety and environmental management system (consistent with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001), and we review and improve it as the work and the risks evolve.

• Our standing target: Zero harm to people and controlled impact on the environment, on every project.
